Inspire Hope at the Kona World Championship
Two years ago, professional triathlete Dr. Ruth Brennan Morrey and her coach, Dr. Phil Skiba, developed a plan to qualify for the Kona World Championship in 2015. This plan has earned her slot as 1 of 9 Americans and 1 of 35 professional women in the world to compete in triathlon’s most iconic event in Hawaii on October 10th – her 40th birthday!
In typical RBM fashion, Ruth wants to give back – by dedicating race day to families affected by chronic disease. She states, “My mom was 47 (and I was 17) when she passed away from Multiple Sclerosis, with basically no mobility when she died. Here I am, I'll be 40 on race day, and in the best shape of my life competing with the athletic gifts that she passed on to me.”
